Group Ski Costume: Matching Masks for the Crew

The easiest group ski costume is a matching mask. Everyone keeps their own jacket, helmet and goggles, and you still look like one crew. The Blockhead ski mask by blockhead.shop works well for this. It's a bright yellow full-face knit balaclava with a blocky toy-like head and four faces to mix. The more masks in one order, the bigger the automatic discount: 2 masks get 15% off, 3 get 20% off and 4 or more get 25% off.

Why are matching masks the best group ski costume?

Full costumes on the mountain are a hassle. They go over your gear, catch the wind and end up stuffed in a locker by noon. A mask goes under the gear you already wear. Blockhead has one wide eye opening sized for ski goggles and fits under most ski and snowboard helmets, so you can ski in it all day. Then take your helmets off at après and the full blocky heads come out. A row of yellow heads is easy to spot from the lift, easy to find at the end of the day and very easy to film.

How much do group masks cost?

One mask is $24.99 USD. The discount applies automatically at checkout, with no code, across any mix of faces. Totals below are in USD before shipping and rounded. Checkout shows the exact amount in your currency.

Shipping to the US, Canada, Europe, Japan and South Korea is free over $40 (otherwise $4.99). Everywhere else it's free over $59 (otherwise $9.99).

Should the whole group wear the same face?

Both work. It depends on the photo you want.

• Everyone in one face: a clean, uniform look, like a team. Big Grin is the face most people pick, and a row of identical smiles is a strong group shot.
• One of each face: four people, four characters. Tongue Out, Big Grin, Chomp and Smirk each look different, so everyone gets a role.
• One odd one out: everyone in Big Grin except the groom, birthday person or trip organizer in Chomp or Tongue Out. They stand out in every photo.

Does it work for a bachelor or bachelorette party ski trip?

Yes, that's one of the best uses. A group in matching yellow heads is the kind of photo people keep. One person can order for the whole group in one cart. The discount goes up to 25% at 4 or more masks, and everything ships to one address with tracking. It's a mask, not a full outfit, so pair it with whatever jackets people already have. If you want a gift for the person of honor, see gifts for skiers or gifts for snowboarders.

When should a group order?

Order early. Blockhead is a pre-order drop, and the ship-by date is shown above. After it ships, tracked delivery takes about 7–14 days to the US, 14–24 days to Canada, 12–21 days to Europe, 10–25 days to Japan and South Korea, and 15–30 days elsewhere. Work back from your trip date and leave some margin. Ship to whoever is packing the car.

Will one size fit everyone in the group?

Blockhead is one size for adult heads about 22–23 in (56–59 cm), in polyester stretch knit. Ask everyone to measure around their head just above the eyebrows before you order. Our sizing and glasses guide shows how. It's adult size, so it isn't designed for kids. If the crew includes children, read are ski masks for kids? first. Masks that are unworn and unwashed can be returned within 30 days.

Is it warm enough for a full ski day?

It's warm enough for lift rides and cold days. It's a fun mask of about 150 g, not a technical base layer, so on a bitter, windy day people should keep their usual layers under their jackets.
